Omega Seamaster De Ville 18ct: Dial & Hands ID

Hi everybody,
This watch was my grand father’s.
I’m interested to know is someone can help identify the exact model. Also, do you think that the hands are period correct ?
The watch was serviced by Omega but I know they tend to replace dials and hands without thinking about keeping the watch as it was originally.

Unfortunately the hands and crown are not original and the dial has been refinished.

On the plus side it looks like the solid 18ct reference.

I knew the hands were not original because they look brand new, but I’d like to know if they are at least similar to the original ones, because I have seen that usually these Seamaster Deville have thinner hands. What do you think ?

Yes you can still get Hands for this one. Finding an original dial will be hard. But its also Not a horrable redial. Its Part of its history.

Yes thin, straight hands are correct here.

Some of the SMDV 18k models should be ok with dauphne hands instead of the more usual straight crayon hands. Not sure if that applies to your watch, but just to let you know. If you are planning to ever service the watch you will find out it's reference nr. and you can look it up from here:

I've never seen lugs this thin and pointed. No idea what's going on there, why would anyone file them down like that?

Thanks for commenting. Do you think it is a service dial ? I noticed that « De Ville » is not written in capitals, contary to most pictures that I find in the forum

As noted above, the dial has been repainted/refinished. The printing is incorrect.

I've never seen lugs this thin and pointed. No idea what's going on there, why would anyone file them down like that?

Maybe someone scraped off a bit always when in need of some cash.

Yes it could be an explanation. Or maybe one lug was damaged at some point and somebody thought the best thing to do was to try and thin/polish them untill they looked symetrical ?

I thought one possibility could be, that this has originally had an integrated bracelet like mine

and someone really wanted to scrap the gold but keep the head.

Then later someone welded new lugs like this. Dunno if even possible..

It's possible that it was worn with a expandable-lug bracelet that caused damage to the inside of the lugs, and someone did their best to restore it.

On the point that the 18 mm strap in the pictures seems to fit perfectly and the inside of the lug looks to be straight, this would actually be a really impressive restoration IMO.
