My wife also owns a cosmic. Recently she droped the watch on the floor, but didnt mention it to me. After a month she told me that the watch runs too fast. When i held the watch in the hand, i also felt that the movement is bumping inside, i couldnt remeber feeling this when it came from service. I also saw that the crystal was maybe 0,5mm not fully inside. Maybe due to the shock it moved a bit. Since the watch was still under warranty i brought it to the AD. The watchmaker told me that the crystal cracked when he was trying to take it out and now is waiting (since 1,5 month) for a replacement, somehow Omega seems to still have problems after the cyber attack.

Do you have the special tool to extract the crystal? How did you take it out?
I can imagine that maybe your one had a simmilar problem.

Ok! The ring comes with the crystal, or can I order just a ring?

Ring and crystal are ordered as one.

The crystal is removed with a particular tool, and the tool required will be written on the case back (if it hasn't been worn away or polished away).

For a larger watch, it will likely be Tool 107, for smaller watch maybe Tool 105...here's what it looks like:

It is placed on top of the case, the handle at the top turned, and it grips and lifts the crystal straight up:

A press is used to press the crystal back in place - it will take force to do this:

Last one of these I serviced...

Cheers, Al

Thanks Al, I guess It might be a wrong crystal/tension ring then... X350 XJR mentioned that the ring should have a step?
I pressed the crystal back with my fingers, It was hard but eventually I won.

Yes, it can clearly be seen in the second photo I posted above.

If you can press that crystal in with your fingers, it definitely needs replacing.

Ok, but it was really tight when I opened it. I used this trick... please forgive me! Can the watch get damaged by this?

The crystal on my watch was very tight fitted when I removed it. I haven’t got the Tool 107 needed for this, so I did as in the video I posted above.

Thats an impressive method 😀 havent seen it before.
It does feel that the crystal is exposed to quite some friction, while beeing fitted and removed.
I wonder if those crystals actually need to be replaced after every opening, or if they can still perform as good after being refitted a few times.

If you have the right tools I think it should stand being refitted a few times. Maybe not so many times if you do it the way I did...

Dumping the movement straight on the cushion? Shouldn’t the hands be removed first?

Probably not a good idea to dump it like that... I was much more gentle when I took the movement out of the case.

Well, you as a private individual won't be able to buy the crystal. It would have to be purchased by a watchmaker with an Omega parts account, and they could install it for you as well.

You could try to find a crystal somewhere using the part number I've given you - even a scratched up one with a good tension ring would work...
I have now been in contact with an Omega service center and they will install a new crystal with the right specs. Approx. 150 € is the cost.
Thanks for your help!
