Hey guys, I hope I may rely on your expertise again. I‘m slightly in love with a Seamaster 600 with a black, structured dial and a patina that is quite strong, yet it really appeals to me. Especially since it’s a black dial, I‘d love to hear what you think - does this appear to be a genuine watch, no redial? If there’s anything wrong you can spot please don’t hold back. It’s a 135.011, cal. 601. The dial looks to me like it might be a naturally aged dial, including the faded out letters. Not sure how much the case has been polished, but crown, indices and hands seem original to me. Corrosion isn’t too bad. Caliber and serial number add up, too - I’m pretty confident here, but that doesn’t mean anything, hence this post. Thanks in advance - really curious about your opinion, also regarding the patina. Would it be too much for you?
Yep, this will be too much for me. Faded gold lettering on a black dial will be hard to read without it having a linen texture; this will be too much. If you like taking photos of your watch for Instagram etc. you will find this one annoyingly difficult to photo as well…
The fading of the dial couple with the very heavy gold plate case wear makes it a resounding "no" from me.
These dials in good condition are extremely attractive. Unfortunately many have aged poorly such as this one. Better to spend more on a better example
hahha, marking my calendar, the day one of my favorite commenters recommended against a watch because it’s instagram-ability. Love it
