Seamaster 300 Pro - what’s next?

Going through the SMP history from 1993 - it seems like the Seamaster gets an update every 6 year or so;

1993 - introduction
2006 - 2500 movement, new dial
2012 - Ceramic bezel, new dial
2018 - current generation

Given that it now have all the modern stuff - what will happen to the model next you think? It is hard to see potential improvements at this point. Smaller maybe?

Very early speculations of course...

i think the next generation will be in 2023 to celebrate the 30th anniversary.

Most probably a tweaked new movement and i speculate it will be thinner.

I'm hoping for a return to the previous generations' shape of the HE valve.

The new tapered HE valve looks too much like a bite-sized Reese' Pieces cup

I’d be interested in seeing an updated 2254 style watch:
Ceramic Bezel and dial
Maybe no waves
Keep 12 triangle and swords and lollipop seconds
Speedy or PO style bracelet
Maybe applied indices?

That would certainly put me on the "deposit made" list.

Put me in for a modernized 2254.50 with the following updates:

Ceramic bezel
Updated fonts for the numbers on the bezel
Lumed bezel
Improved bezel movement
Ceramic dial
Applied logo
Sword hands
8900 Movement
Transparent case back
Short center link on the bracelet like the PO
Adjustable clasp
DON 😉

the latest release is very popular, I don't think Omega is going to update it anytime soon. There is no need to do it...

I feel the same way about my 2012 model
I feel the same way about my 2017 model. 😀 In many ways, I think that the 2012-2017 version was the best overall and the 2018 model was a step backwards in a few respects: too big, too thick, toothpaste cap/Reese's peanut butter cup HE valve, no applied logo, display case back (useless on a diver?). I realize that the wave dial has been part of the model's overall signature, but the glossy dial of the 2012-2017 model without waves is stunning, particularly in black. If Omega could fit the master chronometer movement into the 2012-2017 model and improve the bezel action, it would be just about perfect.

Perfect proportions and the inky dial really needs to be appreciated in person.

Agreed. With the sapphire crystal's AR coating on both sides. it almost looks like the dial is floating in the case. I forgot to mention one other virtue of this model and that's the 2500d movement. It's the fourth iteration of the 2500 with the bugs worked out. Very reliable, very accurate, and slim enough to avoid needing the chunky case proportions that most divers have. With the bracelet, you can really wear this watch with everything from jeans to a tux.

There’s an argument to be had that this model is a strong “one-watch” collection contender.

Certainly possible. I own multiple Omega models, but this one is my daily wearer. It does everything well.

I'm not going to lie - I think the only "modern" SM300 diver that looks half-way decent is the 2254 and that generations variants with the sword hands. Everything since then leaves me cold that is that same basic shape. I do like the Seamaster 300 Master Co-axial very much though.

Apparently everyone loves this watch in one version or another. Home run, Omega.

Sold it, bought the current model (in blue). Still kicking myself for that move. I mean, the new watch is great, but that "old" one was really nice too. I can't seem to find any NOS to buy at a decent price. Used ones are too expensive (based on what I sold mine for).

Agreed. I bought mine new on the grey market and used ones are now selling for more than I paid.

I'm hoping for a modern sword hands Seamaster. Either based on the 2254.50 or 165.024 form. The current generation of 300M really does nothing for me, it's too big, too thick and too shiny. I like divers to be a little more modest and under the radar as I always take them on holiday and also use them for actual diving 😀
