Seamaster 300 Heritage: Which Look?

I edited my upper comment for context but I'm glad you got the idea. When I think of the polished watches that my grandfather and grand-uncles wore, they may very well have had polished links at one point, but those bracelets were used. and it didn't look bad- it looked... well, on a polished surface enough little scratches kinda throw off some color or something. I'm not sure I can explain it.

Maybe it's just nostalgia, but this is a tool watch. The more I've worn mine on the bracelet the more I've realized that maybe, this is a case where the watch has to be worn and used to be appreciated the most.

I recently saw some close-ups of @Scooterino36 's case (ok not that close but beautiful!) and was blown away by how beautiful the patina was. Can't wait to get there.

Hahaha that's a nice way of saying it's marked up to hell. I do agree that this particular model, for whatever reason, carries scratches very well.

@gbesq it's bracelet all the way for me on this 2nd Gen model. But the brown does look nice.

Metal bracelet....Always have felt leather straps and dive watches aren't a great fit. Having said that, the leather on the divers in this thread really look good.

I’m a bracelet guy and it’s a particularly nice looking bracelet as well. So that’s my vote. For strap, I prefer the brown.

As others have said, the brown here is better than the black. (And the bracelet takes the trophy.)

I think a black strap could work well with this watch, but the one in the photo is (to my eyes) not quite right. Perhaps a little too dressy and shiny and bolstered? Part of the reason the brown works so well is that it’s sort of matte and washed out and vintage looking, which suits this faux-vintage watch. A matte/faded flat black leather band (even tending a little more toward gray) could be really good here.

That's a very good observation. Thanks!

That said, my wife just looked over my shoulder and said “*you’re* giving fashion advice?!! YOU?!!”

So, uh, grain of salt?

Agree the shiny bolstered look throws me off more than the color. Flat strap with flat black with side stitching might work better.

Dive watch, steel or rubber. Move on, nothing more to see here.😉

Where’s that self-proclaimed expert who, with great authority, was passing judgement on everyone’s straps a couple months ago? I searched but could not find the thread. He’s the guy I described as “frequently wrong, but never uncertain”, although I did it in Latin just to get some of you guys a-Googlin’.

For what it’s worth, I’m in the “bracelet first, then brown leather” camp.

I’ve thought a couple times that thread needs to be revived to keep our friend busy. 😀 I’ll bump it with my latest choices.

I own the same model. While I occasionally wear it on a NATO or strap (either tan leather or a black sailcloth), I always return to the bracelet after a few days. It just looks better on the bracelet to me (and is also more comfortable).

But that is personal preference. It looks great on that strap.

Well, the votes seem to be about evenly split between the bracelet and the brown strap, so I’ll go with the strap today.

This is why I haven't picked up any other straps for mine. I find the bracelet extremely comfortable so I havent found a reason to switch it out.

I agree that the bracelet is great. I just like to switch things up now and then, hence the straps. But the second generation bracelet on this model is one of the best bracelets that Omega has produced IMO.

How many micro adjustment positions does the second gen bracelet have?

I think it’s three, but not really sure. The total adjustment range is about 1/2 a link. Very easy to get a precise fit.

That maybe the only thing that can be considered an overt weakness about the second gen bracelet, is that the first-gen bracelet has about 6 micro adjustment positions.

I guess we never get EVERYTHING that we want in one package!
