Seamaster 300 2913-7 (seeking advice)

Hey all,
Hoping for your thoughts on a Seamaster 300 2913-7 I recently picked up. It's far from perfect, but the price seemed fair to me and I have a 10-day return option so I decided to roll the dice on a nice looking beater...

Stuff I love:
  • LOLLIPOP!
  • Reproduction bezel looks good
  • Dial has a nice patina
  • Original or period-correct crystal (I think).
Stuff I know needs attention:
  • Hands poorly relumed
  • Pip missing lume
  • Service crown
  • Case a bit rough
  • Incorrect bracelet
  • Possible parts replaced (rotor).
Questions I have for @kox and the other experts:
  • Does serial no. seem in the appropriate range (16.684.XXX)?
  • Rotor reads 17J, but I believe should be 19/20 for 501. Could this reasonably have been swapped during service? How much should this worry me?
  • If I want to source the correct crown, is 24 tooth, flat foot, 6.8mm diameter x 3.35mm thickness, 0.9mm stem size correct?
  • Is 7912 flatlink bracelet with no. 6 end links the correct bracelet for this?
I'd appreciate any feedback.

All of the “problems” can actually be easily sorted. It usually comes down to the price. If you paid $50k, it’s awful. If you paid $500 it’s awesome.
I personally would prefer a watch like this that I wouldn’t be concerned with getting a scuff or a bump on it....as long as I paid a price commensurate with the condition and not a collectors premium.

There is a lot to like about that watch. Once you get the lume in the hands color-matched, I think you will really enjoy it. Personally, I would also probably address the crown; aside from the shape of the logo, the thickness has a visual impact.

16.684.xxx is the right serial number range for a -7, and I believe you're correct for the bracelet. Looks like a really nice watch, especially with that lollipop!

Thanks! If you multiplied the low estimate by 10, you'd be close 😀

Thanks @speedamatuer @Dan S The crown I think will be a must for me and the hands. But I'm really enjoying it. I think I'd like to replace the crystal as well.

I think you did fine.
Crown & crystal are still available- if you have any intention of wearing it on a hot steamy day (or occasional rain storm) opt for a correct service crown and don’t get caught up in the lure of a vintage crown (with dead seals). This isn’t a safe queen- no need to stand on ceremony of originality.

Anyone have a line on an appropriate crystal or know the appropriate serial number? I've seen a couple on eBay but not sure their the exactly right. One example below.

Thank you very much @Archer

Seamaster 300 project coming along. NOS hands and crystal, and correct crown finally landed. May eventually get the bezel done and grab a Fostner bracelet once I'm over my Spectre phase 😀

Other than the bad photography, not sure what you mean.

Hands on the 2913 are highly polished so I think it's reflecting the light, looks different
