Hi all, hope everyone is well at this time ?

I posted photos of a 165.024 a short while ago that seems to be a put together watch. A question in the post was what does the SP2 stand for? (is it as simple as service part?). I think because there is so many posts hitting the site in the current shutdown period posts quickly disappear into the background.

Thanks!

Sorry to bump up my own unanswered post, and I will quietly disappear into the background if this is 'bad form'. Has anybody any ideas on the SP2?

I don't think anyone has come up with a good explanation for the SP, S, or SC stamps on HF and CB cases for Speedmaster and Seamasters. So I don't think there is an answer.

There are SP markings seen on a few CWC RN300 watches too that are to date unexplained as far as I know.

I would rule out the SP referring to it being a service part. The case backs with these stamps are often well worn and look coeval to the cases. Also if it were to refer to service part, it would be PS in French. SP is stamped into Ploprof cases where there are no case backs, and the case is original. The same can be said of Special Pushers on Speedmasters. All good guesses but wrong. I think it is just a mysterious internal reference code. The only explanation that has come up with any possibility of being correct, is the mention in Omega Through Time, suggesting the SP on Speedmaster cases refers to the case being water resistant, and SP standing for Special
