Hello OF,

Happy Friday. Currently in the process of acquiring this beautiful Seamaster. I've been looking for a Seamaster honeycomb for a while and finally stumbled with this one. It's not a bargain or anything but I believe the case, dial, hands, and crown are in very good condition. The seller got it from the family that originally owned it.

Thoughts?

Doesn't every dealer get it from the original owner? 😁 Ask for paperwork to prove it or it's useless.

Looks nice. It looks real nice. I don't love the lume having turned burnt brown/black but personal preference. Tell seller to take it out of the lightbox and get a picture outdoors though.

I've never seen a watch with time set to 10:08 that wasn't priced at the higher end of market value but if it's a one time purchase and it checks all the boxes go for it.

I have a 14kt Gold Chronometre (2518 with 343rg) without lume and much prefer that look. No waffle dial.

Best snippet of advice I've heard all year!

Original poster, you speak true when you say it ain't no bargain... but the heart wants what the heart wants.

Well, the photo style is easy to recognise, so we shouldn't be surprised by the price 😁

Actually, the excellent photos are one thing that he deserves credit for!

I bought another watch from this seller a few years back and I was happy with the result of both the transaction and the watch. This watch is a 14k gold beauty and also comes serviced. I know it's at the high end of the spectrum but for a smooth transaction and a quality watch, I think sometimes it's worth it. I just haven't seen a honeycomb SM in this condition. With that said, I guess the consensus is that the price is the only issue. 😉

Thanks and enjoy your weekend.

I also bought a rare model from him once. The main problem is not the high prices, but occasional misrepresentations.

They are out there -- this 2686 cost me just under E1,100 last year

yeah I don’t think he is the most honest with his statements but he does find some nice pieces. Just need to be careful buying from him.

Very nice! I also have a similar one that I acquired when I was new in the search for one. I liked it because it had different 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 configurations rather than the traditional 3, 6, 9. 🤨 Definitely not a good example, hence the reason I was so excited to find the one above. Here are some pics:

I must run away when I see 'honeycomb' on a title... 🥰

That's an absolutely stunning watch and I would love it too, but for me at that price it would have to have provenance, e.g. the original box and papers. Maybe that's unrealistic but it's where I'm at.🤨

3k USD is hovering around special, chronometre grade.

I stress that the black/dark lume detracts from the piece IMO. The right nice orange/cream/light brown radium adds to a piece.

See difference below?
