And here are a few slightly better shots (struggling to capture it well, tbh - I wish I had dialstatic's photography skills!)

Shots look great, and the watch looks awesome! I really like how it looks on isofrane, too.

I may have a set of hands for you. Let me know if you're interested. They were put on my old mark II racing and had it corrected leaving me with vintage well preserved hour and minute hand for this model.

Ooh, I've been looking for a set of vintage ones for this model! Mind if I PM you?

See the previous post to yours - I've just had everything replaced! 馃榾

Thanks for the offer, though! Appreciate it.

(Was interesting to read my comments on the old arrangement in the quoted post above - I did get "everything corrected" in the end...).
Oups! Congrats on correcting it all. Looks great!

Looking through that wonderful thread, it appears to be a "modern" MG...

It's mentioned as modern (...more modern than the one before it ;-) but this document on Connie buckles led me to believe your (closed omega symbol) buckle is not only genuine, but period correct:

...which is a good thing, since I was finally able to source exactly the same as yours (for exactly the same strap on exactly the same watch).

Wanted to share this 'semi-tropical' dial with you, especially in combination with the amusing description. Can't help but wonder if it's possible. The text reads:

"Provenance of the watch: it has been worn by a gentleman in Africa who wore a suit all day which caused discoloration of half the dial."

My daughter was messing around with my watch Case this weekend. She saw this watch and said hey it looks like R2-D2.
New nickname for this watch is R2-D2.

Incoming....

This was the clearest / sharpest pic by far, so fingers crossed. Anyway, the price was decent and I couldn't resist the sunburst, syringe minute hand and low serial number. Oh well, I guess I'll find out soon enough 馃檮

Here's mine, going to be a while before I get around to sorting it out [emoji26] All the bits are there but being a Watchmaker means the personal work has to take a back seat.

Cool! That's a relatively rare 176.001 (without the tachy ring). Very interested in seeing this once you have worked your magic on it.

Quick pic - just arrived.

Super happy with it! The case looks unpolished: sides are shiny, edges are sharp enough (some dulling that seems consistent with wearing rather than polishing), and the top is more matte, with a hint of the original sunburst (plus some minor scratches that simply make it an 'honest watch' imo).

I adore the original dial - I've really missed the sunburst metallic after the one on my other 007 got replaced with a matte service one. Tritium pips are largely intact and have had only very minimal impact on the dial: just a little oxidation of the paint at 3, 6 and 9 where there are no hour markers. No paint flaked off these markers either, as is often the case. Transitional caseback is consistent with the low serial (PM'ed to @Andy K ) and the chronograph seems to function very well, resetting nicely to zero.

But it's the hour and minute hands that do it for me. They're just perfect. After a little TLC (crystal polishing, DNA removal, and off to my watchmaker for an inspection) I'll be one happy camper.

Wanted to share my new-to-me 176.007. I bought it from the son of the original owner, aside from an deep scratch in the crystal (which may not be original, and which I am working on the scratch w/ polywatch) It is near perfect condition. The original case sunburst is very prevalent. I tried to submit the serial to calibre1040.com but it didn't look like it went through. The serial is: 355973XX -- is there any way to date its production short of ordering an extract? Thanks!

Nice one!

According the the tables floating around on the set (e.g. http://chronomaddox.com/omega_serial_numbers.html) the movement dates to 1972 (or mayne 73). Remember, it's not an exact science and there's no way to tell if it was put in the case & shipped in that year without an extract.

And according to Andy's excellent website (http://www.calibre1040.com/omega-se...-cal-1040-1041-serial-number-data-and-charts/) your serial is very plausible for a 176.007. Specifically:
