Looks like an interesting new design. But what I find most confusing is that they departed significantly from the design language of all previous generations (from the original to the Ultra Deep), which were clearly derived from the SM300 of the 60s. The new case is neither the straight lugs nor the lyra twisted lugs of all previous Seamasters, it is something like a cross. Some of the new design elements remind me of the Seiko Samurai style....

The only design elements they kept from previous POs are the dial and the hands....

The loss of the HEV is probably a good move, but I had somehow accepted it as oart of the Seamaster ethos by now.

Not sure I like the new bracelet, but will have to see it in the metal.

Hmmm, I don’t know what to think. To be seen in metal. But the legacy of 165.024 case shape definitely lost. The case more remind me on mixture of Grand Seiko and Zenith (Defy Extreme Diver) than on Omega. Regarding thickness- they seem to flatten the crystal and Bezel and take a bit of thickness at case back away. So on the hand does not really look much thinner then the previous model. It looks more close to 15mm thick than to 14mm. However, what is to admit - It looks more modern and flashy

It's like someone mashed together the straight-lug case and the lyre/twisted lug case. While this new case might have been interesting if used for a new line, losing the iconic "Professional" case design for the PO is a miss. Time to set the clock for another 10 years...

I welcome it though. The shape of the case and the bracelet are very modern and refreshing, Omega often cops flak for making too many similar watches, you definitely can't accuse them of that this time!

The dial proportions still seem a bit off to me, but it's better in the video than the crappy photo. I'm warming to it for sure, the case is really nice. The only thing I really, really don't agree with is the PCLs. It's certainly blingy for a purported tool watch.

What I wonder is will they be as bold with the next gen SMP? Could we see the removal of the HEV for good?

Let's talk about the clasp: it's impossible to desk diving with that large portion of polished metal, isn't it?

An entire teasing campaign about the orange colour, and then the watch has all-white writing on the dial and no-orange needle tip on the seconds hand.
Really, Omega?

Think it definitely needs to be seen in the flesh, but I was thinking is this the next step for Omega with the Seamaster range.

I still think Craig wearing the blue 120m vintage recently might be worth remembering at some point next year.

That ! And they also managed to make it even bulkier than the previous one....

I'll wait to see it in the flesh. However, when I directly compare it with the predecessor on photos... the more I don't like it. But let's see.

I bought the previous version (43.5mm 8900) earlier this year, and I was a bit worried that I would regret the purchase when the new one was hinted....

So far, I'm relieved.

I think those who were thinking about buying the previous gen might be in for a good deal if they can find an AD with one in stock, given they'll want to make way for the new one.

It looks like the same clasp on the Ultra Deep, which I like very much.
Yeah, it might get some scratches - as every clasp.

Agree, it's almost like a totally new model.

At first glance that's more like a Vostok Europe than an Omega.

Losing the lyre lugs and the HEV is setting fire to their identity.

But - if this is real - the most interesting observation is:
  • Diver 300m is getting more toned down, restrained, classy, less blingy and more retro
  • PO is getting more bling, in your face, angular, shouty and BIG

They're really creating a clear separation in the family lines here.

Hard to see how it’s not real.

Who knows maybe the Seamaster may go the same route. (It’s does feel as through the current releases are end of the line)

With Sora being able to convincingly generate anything these days I remain skeptical about any media not provided via official channels ;-)
