Maybe this will help, my big triangle SM300 serial number is only 305 apart from OP's serial number. Mine is not issued, but is original and my freshly acquired Extract of Archives confirms it as a 165.024 Seamaster 300. Suggest OP orders an Extract, should confirm if it's an issued 300, and would remove any doubts and potentially add to value.

Thanks for the information and advice. I presume if it wasn't issued that would account for the exceptional condition? How would I go about ordering an extract of archive?

Thinking of selling my virtually mint condition sm300. 100% genuine, was serviced by omega in 2012. What's it worth?
If everything verified with list of parts replaced by Omega In Switzerland, $4,800 won't surprise me.

I've ordered the archive extract, says will take up to 6 weeks- anyone got experience of how long they generally take?
Noticed an auction at bonhams in September for one that is only 16 numbers away on movement serial number.
https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/23509/lot/203/
Forgot to mention the 6 looks nearly closed on that one also, unlike the number 9

Bonham's example appears to,have a more appropriate type of bezel. Irregardless, nice to find a twin so close in movement number

It would surprise me! It's worth a bit more than that..

Keep us updated with the extract results OP, be interesting to see. If its any guide the last one I ordered was exactly a month turnaround, usually you'll have got something back by week 5.

You mite post this over at the MWR forum there more knowledge on military issued watches since that's what most members collect there. And if it turns out the real McCoy will be able to tell you the price these sell for.

Here is a thread about one that sold at auction for $61,000.00 US if that helps

It was my late fathers watch...
I've not taken the back off, but according to omega, it is a 552 movement.

Well... let me help you out if you don't mind. Here we have the movement and caseback of your watch, pictures are from february 2012, so before the service was done. Don't ask me where I've got these from, I can't remember.

Very nice watch and good luck with selling it. 👍

I came across them photos on my computer last night. I was going to post them on the forum. I did take the back off and photograph it because it was going in for service anyway.

Ha, I was just ordering an extract of the archive for one of my issued 300's and realised it has a movement serial number removed from the OP's by 1 single digit!

Very cool, is it from the same issued batch?
Is it a BT dial?
Same insert type?

Yes BT dial, different insert. I assume same batch, will have to wait for the extract to confirm,
Apologies no photo yet! Will try and get time to remedy that.
