EDIT: As many know here, I'm a long haul trucker. I'm leaving today and will be on the road for the week. I'll be answering all your queries in the order they can in during my breaks and stops on a daily basis. Hopefully we can get this sold this week. The watch is in CT, USA and can ship from there at moments notice. For Canadian buyers, I will bring the watch back with me over the weekend to Montreal if a Canadian buyer snags it.

    Cheers

    Faz

    Hello OF members,

For your consideration, my 16800 Rolex sub with matte dial and punched guarantee. Looking to modernize my small collection so this one sadly has to be sold.

I've owned this watch for 12 years. 8,8 mil serial. Some will debate whether matte dials appeared on late serial subs. Many will acknowledge them as correct into the early 9 millions. Nobody but Rolex knows for sure. So I will price this watch accordingly.

Per paperwork, this watch was originally purchased at Bucherer's Zurich in 1985. I purchased this watch privately on the Vintage Rolex Forum. It includes the punched warranty and booklet pictured. It's a very solid watch. The case seems to be Very close to unmolested with nice bevels, sharp edges, fat lugs and full crown guards. Apart of normal wear and scratches, no major dings or gouges.

This watch was serviced by Al Jensky known as Archer here on the OF 5-6 years ago. I've worn this watch in rotation with my other watches. It's my most accurate mechanical and runs well within COSC specs. Correct J5 Code 93150 bracelet with 593 end pieces. Still very tight. Presently fitted with 11 links and I have one extra. Correct original triplock crown. Correct Open 6s-9s date wheel. Sapphire crystal has some rough edges but only noticeable to the touch. As you can see on the scans, not noticeable.

Tritium markers and hands in good to very good vintage condition. The hands and plots are a beautiful eggshell patina. Hands may appear a shade darker in certain lighting conditions. Bezel insert may be a later but correct replacement. Pearl has patinaed beautifully. More scans available upon request.

Much debate on original and unpolished cases so I won't venture in saying so. My eyes tell me, most probably!

Well, u can still see the original chamfers on the lugs. That's a given. Definitely looks unpolished to me.

Would also consider a Trilogy Speedmaster in a trade with cash coming to me.
