I think the GMT is a great feature but do most people buy them for travel or more for collection and something different. Like those of us who buy divers and don’t dive. I’ve flown from the US to China a few times and I could see how they would be useful after a while not only did I not know the time but didn’t know the date or day. Just curious.

I use mine for traveling and the GMT is a handy feature.

Didn't buy the CHNR this time around - would have had to part with 2 of my 3 Rolex to pay for it.

Mine 16750 from 1984. Just before they came with wg indexes.
Your patina on the 16750 is beautifully aged. A vintage look with quickset feature is awesome.

I don’t have the GMT but do have the Expl II with fixed bezel for second time zone. It’s the only watch I travel with and comes in very handy when entering another time zone. My GMT hand is always set to home time and the only thing I switch when traveling is the 12 hr hand to the local time zone. Extremely useful!

That is my preferred way to set my GMT if the watch allows it. But with some ETA based GMT you can't jump the 12 hour hand. Rather, you must hack the movement to change the 12 hour hand, while you can "quickset" the 24 hours hand and date without hacking the movement. So, when traveling the 24 hour hand becomes local time if I don't want to hack the movement.

GMT isn't always needed, but it's a nice complication to spice up the watch a little from a boring 3-hander. Since I'm usually within 2-3 hours of home time (99% of the time) I could get by with just a 12 hour bezel to add or subtract a few hours, if I want to easily track home time (i.e. Spectre LE). When I was in the Bahamas last month I wore my Tudor GMT less than half the time, because my wrist swelled up so that the loose bracelet back home (32 degrees) was too tight in the 85 degree weather on the cruise.

So I used the jumping hour hand on my Planet Ocean 9300 to set it for 2 hours ahead, But then I'd often forget that it wasn't too late to call my kids in Colorado, seeing 11PM on my wrist and not thinking about it only being 9pm back home. The GMT is useful for things like that.

I should have taken my Rolex GMT with the easy link bracelet, or installed a long NATO on the Tudor since the Tudor NATO was too short for me.

In this condition with the matte dial and original insert around $15k or 16K with no box/papers. Most of them don't have the original insert though and most have been polished quite a bit. It's hard to find the nice ones for sale.

I had s long discussion with the seller about the insert and chose to pay a little extra for this one that the watch was born with, fat font serif, instead of another one that also was correct for the reference.
