I don't know, seems like OP is being piled on, pretty petty IMO. Don't like the post/question? Ignore it and move on.

Looks like @stevec14 got a good suggestion.
Also, when does it stop to be nearly NIB?
The second you remove it from the box and put it on your wrist. Every moment of its life thereafter is used in excellent condition....and declining

People do whatever they want with their watch.
But what’s petty is when you have a life of privilege, making good money with plenty of disposable income and no need to sell watches for a living, to try and scrape even more out of a buyer, all the while breaking rules and breaking a pledge to your own seller. And then to ask people to endorse that.
That is what’s petty.
All forums have their culture and this one has a very sane one.

So you personally know the OP?! "you have a life of privilege, making good money with plenty of disposable income and no need to sell watches for a living". Those are some pretty big assumptions if you don't even know the guy. And breaking a "pledge"? Gimme a break. This reverence towards Rolex AD's is pretty laughable. People change their mind all the time, so what? Like the old bumper sticker said, "Shit Happens". I'm a free market guy. Sell it for whatever the market bears. Don't like the price? Don't buy it. I pass on purchases all the time when the price isn't acceptable to me. If someone wants to spend $18k for a SS Rolex sports watch, go for it, even though that's a big pass for me.

And to be clear, I've never sold a watch, ever. I'm not a flipper, in case someone thinks that's where I'm coming from...

It's very simple.....you didn't lie to the AD (if what you said is true), so if you don't like it sell it and move on. It's not a great conundrum. It's your watch.

And once a watch is on your wrist for 5 days it is no longer NIB. At best it would be LNIB, or mint.

Thanks all for the comments. Yes, even the mean ones. LOL

I should clarify though: of all the watches I've sold or "flipped" the only one I made a profit on was the blnr. Otherwise, I'm just like most of us here, buy it, enjoy it for a while, move on, take a little loss. Sometimes a big loss. Can you say Breitling?

And no, I have and had no intention of using this as a for sale ad.

you didn’t connect with it even after owning other subs, that’s fine but for heaven's sake, the 4th time you make a purchase, consider the people that don't have a friend at an AD and give them a chance to purchase a watch they KNOW they want without the senseless mark up

It's your watch so therfore up to you what you do with it IMHO. The AD didn't request for you not to flip it, so you're doing nothing wrong. It's not as though you bought it off a forum after bargaining the price down with the seller with a sob story and then flipped it on for a profit. You've been completely above board so why not sell it on at its market value - nothing wrong in that.

You sound exactly like me, I hear you on the Breitling thing! OT: I used to be a member of a UK forum a few years back and took exactly that approach when buying and selling. However I left as I grew sick of advertising my watches (and I was big into Breitling then so you can imagine my losses) at a fair/sell quick price, getting chipped down still further by some of the old stalwarts of the forum and seeing the same watches being snapped up later in the forum at a higher price. Left a bitter taste in my mouth and happened frequently.

Put on your wrist and go diving with it.....

Buy a boat and go sailing with it.....

Jump off a cliff with it (paraglider optional)......

It's a tool watch, do something Tooley with it....

Agree. However the fact he is seeking guidance (approval) to sell tells me that was most likely the outcome from the start.

It is well known at this point that Rolex ADs are looking very unfavorably on customers who buy and flip. I can’t recall whether it was on OF, but I have read some threads where people mentioned that they have been blacklisted for doing it. I can’t recall how they got caught, but I remember the stories seemed plausible.

Interesting, so Rolex actually does try to control the flipping to some degree? Others have posted Rolex likes what’s going on as it drives up the Rolex name apparently. But as far as being blacklisted are you signing something that says you will not resell it. It’s an odd situation once you buy it it’s your property.

Unenforceable. I doubt it's anything beyond an individual AD playing "soup nazi" and refusing to sell to someone they believe is reselling. Funny thing this is exactly what grey's do, but guess that's okay, lol.

Not sure if Rolex does this on a corporate level, but some other brands do. PP for example - I've seen the letter you get as a collector when you sell something right after buying it.

Ya odd situation. As has been said here as long as people are willing to pay the numbers it won’t stop. I made a hefty 10 dollar profit on a flip a couple weeks ago. It was cool though i was only looking to break even.

You may have heard that some ADs hold onto the boxes or accessories or other papers or even remove the caseback sticker. This was apparently happening a lot last year but there was a lot of pushback.

I’m not sure why an individual AD would care, but either they really are trying to avoid selling to flippers, or they are getting pressure from corporate.

Right, their goal is to make sales. I actually didn’t know Rolex was holding back accessories I wouldn’t go for that if I was buying new from an AD. It does show they hear all the complaining but have yet to come up with a reasonable response.
