If anyone can come up with a connection between Madrid, Spain and a Rolex GMT, be my guest.
The B&W photo is a street scene on Genova Street in Madrid, multiple sources indicate the photo was taken in 1970. The two tower thingeys in the background are the stairways/elevator shafts for the Torres de Colon, a high-rise office building then under construction and completed in 1976. I did a modern Google street view of the Torres de Colon and couldn't see any present-day connection to Rolex.
The colour photo is a street scene on Avenida Jose Antonio in Madrid, reported to be taken in 1963.
I'm sure Pan American Airlines had flights to Madrid between 1963 and 1970, but they had flights to dozens of other cities as well, so a Rolex connection on that front eludes me.
I tried finding connections between the year 1954 (the year the GMT was introduced) and anything in these photos and came up empty. Hans Wilsdorf died in 1960 in Geneva...maybe Madrid was his favourite city?
