I am willing to bet that if she went in and asked to buy any of them, they would say they were display only models- as in they don’t have movements in them.

Edit- although looking at them, they all stopped at different times- and I think display models are usually set to 10:10 with second hand down at 30, so maybe these are real!

I see your blank display and raise you a full display. My mother is traveling and sent the following asking me if I was interested in any Rolex watches. Any one of these worth buying?

No.

These are real. They even have white hangtags on the back which you can see. She hasn't gone in yet since she was just walking by. This is just one of a dozen Rolex dealers in the city that just happened to be near her hotel. I was actually looking for the Turquoise OP. Not sure if she will be able to find it but I am as surprised as anyone here that they still have lots of stock it seems.

Have mom go in and see what their status is, I suspect there will be some issue that won't make them immediately available, or there will be some shenanigans with price, like you have to buy something else (overpriced) before you can have one.

I wouldn’t worry too much…

Don't try to make sense of it because it doesn't. Just know that Rolex is the crap brand that's trying to screw their customers. In the end, it will all end badly. I just feel sorry for those people that have paid huge premiums thinking that the bubble will persist indefinitely.

One thing that my local ADs has done is to overuse the word "journey".

"We would encourage you to start your journey with us by buying other brands first......"
"For us, it is all about going on this journey"

Now the word feels ever so slimy 🤮

I went into my AD in the south east U.K. where I am next on the list for an OP36 Bright Blue and the manager and I had a nice chat and he had a full window and cabinets of working watches with price tags and he even let me try on a few.

Looks like they have both a two-tone on the right and a SS model next to it.

Always go gold! I love the two-tones.

Ick! This shows who they are targeting. Many of us are well along on our “journey”, don’t need them to navigate, thank you very much.

I put this in the “turn off” category with retailers/restaurants calling me their “guest”.

So, you have no wish to be nannied by Rolex at this point in your life?

Nor do I have any desire to be nannied by Apple. I want a phone, I want a computer- I don’t want a lifestyle packaged for me.

I want a watch, I don’t want a relationship- sell me the goddamn watch!

I will happily journey down the street to the Omega and JLC boutiques.

Don't buy a Subaru then. We call ours The Nanny Car. It's always beeping about something we're doing "wrong" lol

That's probably just to look at one they have on display, there is no way you are walking out with one on your wrist at MSRP. Very smarmy.

No surprise there, Subaru is the only manufacturer that puts a 'Coexist' bumber sticker on as standard equipment.

A Subaru is a very good place to be in an accident. Their build quality goes far beyond what is required and they use boron reinforced steel for their safety cage and door beams. They make a very crashworthy car and their active safety systems are second to none as they pioneered the technology with their Eyesight system.
