A great find that has turned out really well. Just the kind of watch story I like and you’ve now got a lovely honest example

I remained puzzled why the straight writing caseback Speedies, issued for only a short time (and in two variations) on later 145.022-69, are not valued higher.

What a great outcome! It's still a dream of mine to find a beat up watch (preferably speedy) and see it brought back to health. Good job!

May I ask why you had him replace the hands? The originals looked great from what I can see. Congrats!

Ah never mind just saw the hands were incorrect for a 69.

And here we are, before and after.
The bezel should be refitted: it has been mounted slightly rotated counterclockwise. 😉

Great result! Enjoy it and wear it in the best of health! Speedmasters tend to clean up so niceley.

My -69SW says hello:

Before:

And after a clean up (No case work):

Cheers,
Max

Haha that's the dilemma isn't it. I like barn finds covered in dirt but I then proceed to clean them up 😵‍💫.

The key thing for me is that I've cleaned it so I know exactly what was done.

Nothing better than finding a watch that has filth all over it, a scratched plexi and a back gasket that has turned to mush, it is so satisfying polishing the plexi to reveal a lovely dial and cleaning the case etc.

The watch looks great now 👍

I feel like they are fairly expensive. I’ve seen many go for more than my pre-moon with DON that I’m not sure I’d value as such.
