Up for sale is a 145.022-69 Speedy with a “straight writing” caseback to commemorate the first moon landing, which was a “barn find” and is the best example that has come through my hands. These examples were the last of the -69 references and, particularly in condition such as this, are beloved by collectors. It’s hard to find any faults with this one – this is a true “Collector Grade” example.

See below for the condition report:

Case: Case is mint and unpolished, with sharp lines and original polishing. The special “straight writing” caseback is also in excellent condition, with only minimal loss of black ink. As you can see in the pictures below, the original red wax seal is still on the side of the caseback! This speaks to the general state of preservation and is extremely rare to see.

Dial / Hands: The stepped dial is in perfect condition, with nice creamy patina and zero blemishes – the pictures below speak for themselves. Original handset is similarly perfect, with matching patina.

Bezel: Original “tall Tachy” bezel with DN90 is in excellent condition with no noticeable flaws.

Movement / Timekeeping: As noted in the “Case” section above, the presence of the original red wax seal suggests that the example has never been serviced. The watch runs and all functions work correctly, but a service is recommended. The watch is sold as-is.

Bracelet: This example was unearthed with a highly desirable 1039 bracelet and 516 end links in perfect condition with zero stretch and all links.

My asking price is $7,500 OBO, which includes fully insured Fedex Priority shipping. Payment via PayPal (F&F or add 3% if using PP) or direct bank wire.

That was fast!

Not surprising. What a great example. Congrats to both buyer and seller.
