Replace 1601 Crown and Stem

My 1601 is in for service. They recommend replacing the crown and tube. But the crown seems to work okay. I like to keep things as original as possible and this is new territory for me. Is this a common / recommended repair?

The crystal also has a few small chips in it around the outer edge. The time is still visible, but I thought about asking to have this replaced. Is that common?

Rolex changes out the crown and tube with every service, probably used to change the crystal as well in the plexi era. I’d have them changed if you ca keep the old parts.
