Hi Kevin,

Seems a lot of work to do on this caliber ! But we've already seen worse…I guess that you would be surprise to see the costs for a complete saving. But you can ask for quotation to a professional watchmaker ! I do not know where you are based exactly, there are a lot of watchmakers able to help, but I can recommend you to get in touch with AMZ Horlogerie in Chambery, FR. He is a real professional, watch addict, who did some miracles on worst calibers. He is super busy but will be able to advise you in details.

Cheers.

You are going to need a new rotor assembly.

Am I right in thinking there is sentimental value attached to the movement?

I suspect it would cost you less just to find a replacement movement than it would for a watchmaker to attempt to resurrect this one.

Just out of curiosity, is there a watch to look at here?

Sorry but….not resurrecting.

Maybe keep a few parts, or add a lot of parts.

Interesting philosophical question, how much can you replace of the movement and still retain its heart/soul, and if possible, which parts contain the heart/soul and must be retained? Intuitively I would say it resides in the plates and bridges.

The Ship of Theseus Paradox or 'Trigger's broom'.
