·Hi, first time post in the Rolex world, I have this family piece, I was selling it but nostalgia got in the way and now I want to (if possible) source parts so it can be worn again, it has a solid silver Rolex Case, a Rolex Silver type dial marked Rolex and an unidentified, probably Rebberg Movement missing parts and the winder (crown) I often see Rebberg movements that resemble this one but they range in diameter from about 21mm to 26mm whereas my movement is 28mm and the dial is 30.6mm diameter, the case is 34mm, so far I can not find a Rebberg Rolex movement to fit or to rob for parts.
Question, do the movements lets say a 24mm dia one on eBay, are the component parts the same and just the movent chassis is cut smaller or larger to fit the case it goes in to?
My pictures are not focused well as I did not have a lot of time to set up using macro but I will post a few better ones later when I get the time. whilst I am asking questions the dial which I assume was once bright silver with a wavy star burst pattern, it is filthy, if I used soapy water and a cotton bud gently to clean it up would I remove the word Rolex and the numbers? of are they stamped in using quality inks. There is a guy in Sydney who advertises dial restorations that look quite adept at this task, would or should I send it out?
Thank you for any information or links, I have not done anything yet, I just want to research the best way to go about it first before acting.
