Hi all

Remember this post

https://omegaforums.net/threads/what-should-i-do.115799/

I set my self a task of building a cheap speedie

I know not everyone will like what I did

I sold off the parts I didn't want and went about buying the parts I needed as cheap as possible

Movement Lemania 1873

Dial and a service set of hands were sent to James Hyman

Ordered a service bezel but didn't arrive in time so the bezel on it borrowed of Sean at About Time

End result less than 1/8th of the cost of a SW

And I wondered how my Lemania Speedymoon got this way...

Your assembly is very beautiful.

But, it makes me worry.

I can’t believe you really pulled this off for one eighth of a SW. What are you net out of pocket, James Hyman and all (if I may ask)?

It’s ambitious, I’ll give you that. Why did you choose to use a Lemania rather than an 861? They are out there and not crazy money. That would have kept it all factory parts.

I wouldn't call it a Omega Speedmaster. Or a SW.

I would just say it somewhat approximates a watch and has some fleeting resemblance and function to a well known watch that NASA chose to issue astronauts.

Nice conclusion to your dilemma, though. And a great wearing watch.

because the lemania movement was £421 and I wasnt willing to part with over £1500 for a Omega one

That makes perfect sense. And 861’s for £1.5k?!?!😲
That’s more than I paid for my whole Speedmaster- by twice!

I think it is sounds like a cool project. You did what you set out to do and the end result looks good.

I really like how this turned out. You were able to salvage something unique, which is what I would’ve wanted to do as well. As long as you aren’t deceptive in the future (and please know I’m not in any way saying that’s the intent or that you are) I do not see any issue building this watch how you can.
