Regulators

The stories they tell?

I know essentially nothing a bout watchmaking. I have been able to identify regulators, and have a basis understanding that they are used to regulate the speed of the watch. It is pretty easy to identify when they have been maxed out in the + or - position.

Many times watches advertised for sale include:.."Recently Serviced;" but yet, the regulator will be positioned at the extremes of the + or - range. If a watch has been recently serviced by a competent person, is it reasonable to expect that the regulator will be centered between + and _ ?
