Reflections on my new Omega Railmaster

Well there aren’t any because it’s all brushed - boom, boom. Actually that’s not strictly true as there are subtle even reflections off the brushed surfaces including the silver dial which is just lovely to my eyes. Gives off the feeling of wearing a particularly refined tank (but not in a Cartier sense!). And no PCLs - yay.

So it arrived brand new from Japan - a bit of a risk as never seen in the flesh. No issues and needn’t have worried - it’s a stunner and stonkingly good value. Time keeping to approx - 0.5 sec per day so guess I can live with that! Amazing really as it’s probably sat on a shelf for at least 6 months.

Bracelet is great and rock sold build quality but a few very minor gripes. Compared to my Tudor BB58 I'd say the clasp and finishing generally is not quite as refined which surprised me a bit given the normal retail price differential. Some sharpish edges so feels not quite as comfortable. Resizing a challenge but got the hang of the rather over engineered pin and screw system. Tudor definitely wins there.

Overall absolutely delighted with it and incredible value on Japanese market even with import charges.
Cheers
Jeremy

Gorgeous or what. Now if I could just work out how to set the hands through that plastic film. Anybody?
🙂

FYI, it's s customary to wear a watch without the plastic wrapper.😗

On reflection, I realise that this watch has a similar appeal to my BB58. Essentially modern watches but with well integrated vintage flourishes. Inspired by vintage designs but not a slavish copy thus creating a more unique and stylish look. Anyway that's my take.
