Redial? Omega 505

Hello everyone, recently bought this Constellation in an auction, the seller sold 4 other constellations and this "pie-pan" caught my eye. Now that I have picked it up I see that the star and the '6' seem to be a little off center, the auction house said that it had been serviced by a professional, no service history though. What is your opinion on it, is it a redial? Thanks in advance!

Welcome @Samppa1234

If the watch was described as having an unrestored dial you should try and return the watch.
For future reference, an easy tell is that Constellation cross hairs are always continuous through the script.
An additional tip is to treat all black dialled Constellations as redialled until proven otherwise.

Heh😆 thanks for the tip, I'll see if I can return it, but didn't pay too much so I might just end up using it, thank you!

If you didn’t pay too much then it will make for a very nice daily wearer.

I paid about 900 (euros)
Ouch!
That wouldn’t be a lot for a decent black dial lyre lug Constellation but as @Davidt says that’s not a little amount of money for this watch. (As a ‘kosher’ Constellation)
But if it gives you joy and €900 doesn’t hurt then you can enjoy your watch.

900 is way too much; dial is obviously repainted, case is very soft and the hands are see through, having lost their lume. It's also not a pie pan. I'd say you overpaid by about 700.

I think THIS is a little harsh, but yes, a HUGE overpay. I'd say as-is, (assuming a good, functional movement + reasonably usable case) its worth $300-$400, perhaps even more since it is a very wearable redial.

Please compare it with my example—same dial pattern, with mixed Arabic numerals at the quarters. 👍

I would call that a very obvious repainted dial, not something you would want to pay real money for. Maybe you can post the language of the listing and if they made false claims, you can try to force a return. However, most auction houses hedge their bets in the language they use, so I doubt they claimed that the dial was original.

Obscure auctions can be a good place to get a watch at a fair price, but you need to know what you are looking at. Also, obscure auctions are often where owners dump watches with issues. So even a watch that is cosmetically good and original will often have mechanical issues.

The crosshair on the OP watch is quite the interpretation. Is there one going to the 12? Doesn't look like it's there at all.
