Red flags Datejust 16220?

Hi all! Met the seller today at a watchmaker to remove the bracelet and the back to see everything. First of all the the dial look perfect, there where just smudges on the crystal. Upon inspection everything checked out:
o Ref. 16220
o Serial K 734... dating it to year 2001
o Bracelet 62510 H, very little stretch that fitted me perfectly as is and comes with an extra/spare link.
o End links 555 B er E (I checked but didn't write down)
o Movement 3135 with serial 3 924... in shiny clean state (sorry I don't have technical klowledge of Rolex so this is my assessment - shiny 🤦‍♂️) with the rubber seal intact and in place. Quick set functioned perfectly on midnight.

Case had scratches and I couldn't tell that it would have been polished (at least it wasn't as shiny as the movement was 😆). Over all the watch looked definitely authentic and original. I really liked the set up with rhodium dial with roman numerals. Didn't test the movement but the seller stated that it's -30 sec per day so servicing is being needed.

I know we all love pictures but in the heat of the moment I forgot to take them except for this one of the ref. just to show I really met the guy 😵

So I was satisfied with the authencity and overall confition of the watch and I agreed to purchase the watch with the asking price 3500€ (+50€ I paid the watchmaker to fiddle around with the watch). Past sales I found a similar setup with F serial which was serviced went for 4500€ and haven't found anything on jubilee for this price so I thought it was solid. We finalize the deal tomorrow so I could back out but I don't want to. Sooooomebody stop me!! 😄

Maybe when I'm done staring at it - which will probably take a while 🥰

No, in seriousness I'm going to first just see how it keeps time by myself and later take it to the watchmaker who services my other watches for basic check up.

If you take your watches to an independent watchmaker (which is good, if he's good), don't wait too long.

If it was running at -30s/d on the timegrapher, it's probably bone dry. That will lead to wear on the parts and a higher likelihood of needing replacement parts.

Independents can't get spare parts from Rolex. They have to source them on the open market (unless they have a big stock laying around)... and for that exact reason, Rolex spare parts are ridiculously expensive (to the approximate factor of 10x compared to e.g. ETA/Selitta parts).

Sorry, i know it's hard to take off a new purchase...

I understand and thanks for looking out. The watch hasn't been on the timegrapher and that (-30 sec) was just what the seller stated. I'm going to see how it works a while and then get it on a timegrapher at the watchmaker. Actually the watch is gaining right now. I know the seller had at least five watches in circulation and moved this one on so probably wasn't getting a lot of wrist time. Also he didn't seem to be that type who checks his watch accuracy more than his blood pressure - you know the type - like me 😄

Just finishing the first day with this lovely thing. Took our cat to the vet and had some time to take pictures while the cat was inspecting medical equipment:

Also used the accuracy app to check, and it showed +17sec/day (which was confirmed by earth's revolution around it's axis) beat error of 1,3 (bad) and amp around 270 at 52° lift angle. So nothing like the seller claimed.. I don't know if this calls for immediate servicing but I am going to place this in the safe for a while. Another new watch coming in tomorrow (145.022-71), so probably going to be quite occupied with that one for about a... rest of the year so back to this later 🫡
