Hey everyone,
Looking for something low key and not attention grabbing. I like something with good water resistance and around 40mm. Any feedback appreciated!

Just went to NYC I hate to admit but it was the first time in the city since Covid except for one show. I’m in Boston regularly but wore my seiko turtle to NYC no problems at all but a little sad to see numerous shops and people I knew in Chinatown vacated during the pandemic. Vostok also a good companion but tbh even when I wear the few watches I have that might have enough value to be stolen I haven’t encountered a problem. I certainly did notice an increase in some criminal activity and a little police presence compared to pre Covid

I always wear a Seiko or a Swatch during vacations. They are absolutely reliable, waterresistant and good looking.

And you will also need these accessories to complete the look ,

BB58 is a great shout. Wore the blue on a blue nato on my travels. Another recommendation is sinn 104. Looks great and is 41mm if I’m not wrong

I usually bring my Speedmaster. I know it’s not cheap but I think it flies under the radar for most thieves and I find it quick and easy for time changes

Do watch-robbing thugs really take the time and effort to choose and correctly identify watches before robbing? Any nicely styled watch would seem to make the wearer a potential target.

"Oh bummer! It's only Seiko junk. I don't want this," the crook mutters after he's just clobbered you up 'side the head!

sort of….thieves often look for targets of opportunity. If they’re looking to rob somebody and you’re the only person in the dark alley at 3am then it probably doesn’t matter if you’re wearing a watch at all. However criminals would much rather take their chances on robbing the person with the Cuban link gold necklace and solid gold yachtmaster versus the guy with the fanny pack and timex.
