The price of that first dial took my breath away especially considering it wasn't perfect (had a small scratch and bleed over of the printing of the numbers into the subdial).
The limited edition "Targa Florio" Dynamic Chronograph was launched in 1999. The watch was named after Targa Florio, the legendary oldtimer race held on Sicily. The first race was in 1906, the last race was in 1973. (Therefore this limited edition is one of 1973 pieces.)
Very cool, Fangio would have liked this The old films of this race and the Mile Miglia are amazing! The Italian public would be standing on the road trying to get as close as possible to the race cars. I saw a film of Sir Stirling Moss driving his Mercedes at full speed into a crowd of people standing on the track who where would trying to get off the track at the very last moment to let him through. Those were the days before having to wear a crash helmet while riding a push bike
Stirling acknowledged Fangio as the master of his era. I saw an article in a local magazine of one of his Alfa racers. I think the clutch pedal or the brake pedal was on the other side of the trans tunnel. It must have been an act to manage on a tight circuit.
These are underrated, essentially a Speedmaster in drag. A couple members here have them including myself. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-OME...127577492?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4174826794Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

Dial has some wear on the outer edge and the lugs have been a little overpolished, but it does have the more uncommon Cal. 564 in it!

If you're talking about Seamaster DeVille above, the crystal and bezel come off, the crown stem is split, then the dial/movement comes out the front.
