Well, I’m sorry that you didn’t get it, it looked really nice and a good price but I’m still a little puzzled as to why there were only two bidders.

(I’ve got a couple of C case Connies and although I was tempted, I thought two’s enough)
I also have 168.017 and .029 but this one really nice for this price.

Apologies for discussing in this thread. I’m still unsure of the exact etiquette on this.

I say save your money. I could almost handle the dirty dial but the missing indices are pretty bad. Not sure about value of the watch, but I wouldn’t want to look at it myself. Unless you’re thinking of sourcing a replacement dial or a redial or something.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if they were actually missing or not, it was tough to tell from the mushy pics. Thanks for the second glance.

Don’t overpay for this as there’s some patina to the metallic blue dial, but its a Cal 750/752 De Ville 166.095 in steel and at around 36mm diameter they’re a nice entry level piece.

Since reading your excellent article about these a few days ago I’ve been keeping an eye out for these funky looking watches. I noticed this one yesterday as well but thought the dial decay around the edges suggested water ingress. Do you think it’s just patina?

Its hard to know without movement photos, the blue dials from this period do tend to just go this way, they turn orangey around lume often and at the edges with age, its just a color that isn’t stable for some reason. In general these do tend to be fairly water resistant though being front loaders. The seller mentions its in very good working condition, which I would hold him to if I bought it but I’d not go too high either.

I'd say these are the original hands.
They’re more the style I’d expect to see on a 166.067 or something that’s a bit later, but I guess these are a bit of an oddball watch with that dial, if there are others with those hands I could imagine them being original they just look a bit chunky in isolation.

Here's one of the 167.070 Seamaster Chronometer Née Geneve models that @dsio has written about previously. I have one and really like it, so wanted to share. Not a perfect dial, and a ding on the case at 10, but worth a look?

This one isn’t bad for a gold-plated 752 Cosmic, these suffer from chronic wear-through in general due to the sharp edges of this case design, this one only has a tiny amount on the back of the case and is quite nice overall.

This is interesting in that the Conoco logo is applied metal on the dial, and a nice steel DeVille
