Recommended Longines Watches On Ebay

Having loved watches for some time, I have always been attracted to Nomos watches. I liked the idea of a non-ETA mechanical movement, clean lines, non-ginormous cases, etc. Then I realized I could get all of that in vintage Longines. Nothing against Nomos - I like their concept and watches, but I now own ~15 (approximate because it changes weekly) Longines of all shapes an sizes, many in 14K and 18K gold, mostly hand-wind with a 340 auto thrown in for good measure. All for the price of a any one of the Nomos models I was considering. I will blithely disregard what I have paid my watchmaker to make all these beauties actual beauties (at least the movements) in this calculation. One thing I don't have is a 99x auto, the last true Longines in-house auto. Have seen this one pop up recently and it reminded me of some of the Nomos models (circuitously making my way back to opening sentence) although I now realize the Nomos are all sub-seconds! I know the 99x series doesn't have the same collectible status as the 340 (although I still like the 350 sub-seconds more!), but I feel I need one in my Longines collection. Haven't paid this much for any of my watches unless they were solid gold though. Any thoughts?

Not sure about the price (although seller may consider offers). but this 35mm 12.68z piece looks like a nice Nomos / calatrava style original to me. Roman numerals make it perhaps more interesting.

Thanks for link. I do like that one, but have a 12.68z (nice movement) in my collection. They made a 12.68zs (center seconds) that I find interesting, but haven't seen one lately. In the words of my watchmaker, if I do find one of these... "you like Longines, no?".

H Argonbeam, if you're asking a question for people to opine, perhaps you might want to creat a separate thread? This thread is not for queries, it's for people recommending watches to other people.
Best regards,
S

Gold filled but really nice lugs and dial design.
Not super cheap but not too bad either - perhaps seller would negotiate?
***Careful to inquire about size*** I can't find a mention of it. If 32mm definitely should negotiate price down.

Not sure about the crown but not sure it really matters.

I was gonna post another recommendation here, but then I said to myself, "self, hang on, you should snag this yourself!", and so I did. Sorry. Pictures when it arrives of course. Dem lugs!

35mm, allegedly first owner and untouched. We'll see!

Listing was already taken down. Did someone here buy it?

Maybe Michael will tell us...🍿

Hi.
I took the watch off of auction due to making a mistake with the size. It is 35mm not 36mm, to avoid confusion I will correct the listing and will start the auction again.
Thanks Michael

Item cancelled, with me as the high bidder 😵‍💫

Anyone here got it thru making an off ebay bin offer?
I am always wary of private auctions where you can't tell who is bidding (or running up the bid). I'll keep an eye out for other 292 or 294's.

I'll stick my neck out argonbeam, outside my budget, but open to offers.
Way outside my budget too, but thanks for pointing it out 👍. I don't know enough about the chronos to feel comfortable bidding on any. I have seen or run across most of the American-cased manuals from the 50's and 60's to spot a bargain, but figure I'll be bidding against the true experts for the really collectible watches and would probably wind up on the losing end 🤦.
