Valid points, but I'd counter with places like WatchCo that can assemble 'vintage' Omegas from leftover NOS parts. Add that many movements were interchangeable in many cases due to similar sizes (Omega and Longines), and it could be a watch made from parts bought from a retired watchmaker. Just a theory. I have no proof. Still, it made me wary enough to shoot an email out.

I don't blame you for being safe, but consider also that lower production movements are more likely to be "mismatched" with later cases, as well.

Another good point. However, after my PM I think you can see I have a safer bet in mind.

Forgot to mention: Look at the bid history and tell me if you think something VERY FISHY is going on with the 50 feedback eBay member who keeps pooching up the price in $10 increments. 😒

There is a text that stipulates "
Due to trademark laws we cannot ship Rolex items internationally.

"

What does it means?

Rolex watches sent to the USA get seized at the border
Theoretically, this is the rule/law of sorts. Mostly I have heard of them being returned to sender. However there are really no statistics as to any numbers. My own experience is that I have had them delivered from abroad without any problem. It probably helps to have them delivered as "Used watch" instead of ROLEX watch. Also using Express Mail would greatly help.

Don't know why I'm posting this in the Longines Forum, but here goes:

"Based on the current CBP regulations and the current status of the registered and recorded "Rolex" trademark, CBP Recordation No. TMK 05-00269, that provides gray market importations restricted protections by CBP for the "Rolex" trademark, the United States resident traveler-importer may bring one accompanying genuine "Rolex" watch into the United States, subject to all of the statutory and regulatory requirements for entry and duty. Any and all genuine "Rolex" watch(es) in excess of the quantity of one per traveler-importer shall be denied entry and detained in accordance with 19 C.F.R. §§ 133.23, 133.25."

US Customs Ruling - HQ H071620 dated November 20, 2009

http://rulings.cbp.gov/detail.asp?ru=h071620&ac=pr

To my knowledge, this ruling applies only to watches hand carried at the border and not sent by mail. Watches sent by mail will be returned to sender.

Another good explanation of the Rolex importation rules may be found here:
