I actually like the bezel on that better than the badly faded bakelite bezel on mine
Dude said he made (or had made) the bezel and ordered an insert- perhaps @TrboDieselPwrd can reach out to him and ask about it.

Sure, I will reach out to him. He seemed to be pretty communicative so hopefully he’ll share what he did. Will let you guys know via PM.

Nice deal on a stainless (not chrome plated) early 50’s Helbros chrono. I own several like this and they are all chrome plated- this one is stainless which is awesome. Most likely a Landeron 48 inside, dial is in great shape and seller says working fine. I purchased a watch from him before- all went well.
He made an unsolicited offer of $380 which is a bargain after I watched it, he would probably accept $350 which would be a steal. if I didn’t already have 3 of these rectangular pusher chrono’s (remember- snap back and rectangular pushers = no water resistance) I would be all over this. I keep going back to look at it, please someone save me from myself.

Received and did a quick case cleanup. It has a Helbros 243 (Venus 188) inside and runs really nice. Thanks again @JwRosenthal

Haven’t seen a good GG-w113 in a while at a fair price. This one is in outstanding condition, lume is bright yellow with no ashiness, parkerized finish is even- solid watch. Seller says keeping time and BIN price is excellent. Birth year watch for 1978. If I didn’t have 2 of these already, I would buy this one.

This one closes in a few hours. She’s at tree fiddy now with the original BIN price of $315. 🤔

Yup. That what’s happens when everyone just watches it and doesn’t buy it when it’s cheap. If you see it posted here and think you want it- just buy it.

Is this the watch you get when you have 1,999 others in the watch box (aka 6 drawer dresser conversion)?

pics?

I’m not there yet, but I recall some here saying something like “just wait until you’ve dedicated entire pieces of furniture to your watch collection”

You know who you are! 😁

Remind me to put my 1969 Benrus on eBay and not sell it here since they don’t appear to look at comps at all! 🤦

Jesus, I got mine like 3 years ago for like $275.

Is there a way I can blame Hodinkee for this? Did someone just write a bunch of articles about these being hidden gems?

Yeah, this is hitting a record- not for asking but for actual selling price. I mean yeah- it’s in really nice shape, probably top 10% for 113’s, but it’s not worth all that. It’s either someone who wanted this specific year and had to have it- or it was shill bidded- this is not the new normal, it’s an outlier.
I woundn’t be surprised if the buyer backs out and we see it listed again. If the seller is smart he would offer it at $300 again and let it ride. But if he’s a greedy asshole he’ll list it at $650 make offer. I’m betting on the later.

Just list it as having Hodinkee provenance.

Now that’s just fυcking silly

Fool and their money and all that, or shill bidder and their hubris as you say.

How hard is it to get a new two piece stem for a GG ?
I have been put off these because of that weakness, but spotted one with a busted crown side stem for peanuts (not on ebay) and wondered if its as hard to find as I think.
