Bumping this thread with a nice vintage dress watch for those who are looking for a classy, affordable starter watch. Here's a late-1950's manual-wind vintage Tissot featuring lovely thin hands, thin applied hour markers, and a crosshair dial lightly speckled with a bit of patina. Yes, it's a chrome-plated case, but the chrome is in reasonable condition for its age and is reflected in the reasonable €170 BIN price. The seller is taking offers.

Cool Vintage Ball official railroad standard with twisted lug case going off in 6 hours. Personally I like the look of these over the more common cusion case versions. Currently under $200.

Initially I thought there was some spotting on the dial but closer look at the photos it appears might be on the crystal.

Thanks for the pointer; I couldn’t resist at the price. My grandfather worked for Seaboard Air Line, later Seaboard Coast Line (now the S in CSX) his entire career, so I have a weakness for railroads.

Interesting. My grandfather worked for De Danske Statsbaner (the danish state-railways). I've always slept on railroad watches, but I guess it would be fun to dive down into the history of their importance. The ones with railroad minute track sure springs to mind.
