can’t tell if he just didn’t screw down the crown for the pics or if it it’s stripped and won’t screw down
… it’s a gamble on this one.

I would just ask.

The OF bargains keep coming.

This one from our own @efauser - Tudor Black Bay with the red bezel and gilt rose dial for $2.5k. If you have been wanting a serious diver that’s something other than black on black on black on black- here you go.

There are just too many bargains in the sales section right now. I've hit my watch budget for the year, and it's very frustrating.

Pay a deposit and put it on hold for three weeks until 1st January?

I'll reach out and see if anyone will accept monthly payments throughout 2023. Or, maybe, god help me, this might be the year I actually sell something to fund a new purchase like a reasonable human being.

You'd be surprised.

I actually have done payment plan with another member. Sent them a third up front and they sent me the watch (which they didn’t have to but they are good people) and then started selling stuff off.

Now that’s a slick technique! Hey, maybe that’s why the member here sent it to me so fast 😵‍💫

Worked great in fact. Lol

Especially in your case, a present for your wife. Once she saw the watch, no way are you getting out of that!

Like shooting fish in a barrel 😁

Haven’t seen one of these in a while at a reasonable price:

1982 Hamilton GG-W-113, this is the hacking pilot watch. Lume on the dial and hands looks spectacular- usually these are pretty ashy. Case looks decent but pics suck of course. Not sure on crown- it doesn’t have the step like mine does but I have lost track of what’s correct and what’s not for crowns for each maker/generation. Seller doesn’t mention running but condition is listed as good and working so there is recourse. Strap is whatever it is, original military 16mm OD straps (yes, 16mm was correct even though the lugs are 18) are available on eBay for a Jefferson.
Asking isn’t bad at all for the cosmetic condition and has make offer.

Dial and lume look great. Easy/cheap crystal swap for any competent watch maker. No brainer.

Got another US Mil-issued watch, this time the much earlier Benrus GG-W-113. This one is more like what we are used to seeing with the ashy lume- my birthyear one looks much like this. Comes with the correct 16mm OD strap. Again, price isn’t bad at asking, but does have make offer so would be worth throwing out an offer. If ‘73 is your birthyear- here’s your watch.

This meets the qualifications of a “good value” which is part of the theme of this thread (not just screaming deal or diamond in the rough).

OF “good value” alert from our own @kaplan comes a Speedmaster date reverse panda. These are very nice watches and totally under appreciated - I think becuase it says Speedmaster on the dial which is a personal affront to some- kind of the Porsche Boxster of watches. But it’s a rock solid 7750 based watch and beautifully designed. Price on this one is on parity with anything similar from Tag which would be the closest competitor to it.
Nice watch, nice seller, nice value.

Porsche Boxter analogy is spot on…
I poo-poo’d them for years on principle until I drove one- no it’s not a 911, but it was fun as shit!
