The only thing I have appreciated about this thread so far is the use of the word whilst.
I don’t think people use the word betwixt enough.
Well, I’m gonna hit the hay and get up as the ass-crack of dawn to slave for the man and bring home the bacon.
That should be fun idioms for anyone using a language translator.

Yeah o
Well, fact is The United States is thé most important Republic, I am not going tot get political but thé documents that thé People of thé US created give Freedom which brings responsability and it's a complex matter but you guys get a bad rep and 'Belgium' is younger than thé US....sorry I will stop now
At least Belgium has monks that make some of the most delicious beers on earth….so smooth some of their high alcohol beers will sneak up on you quietly like a methhead at the gas station while you are busy chatting and being over served.

I wasn't offended by it. I simply thought that you were ranting over what amounts to nothing. If you noticed a website or a magazine advertisement in your locale that was using the American version of words that are spelled differently than their British equivalents, wouldn’t you find that odd and wonder why the American versions of those words were used? I think that you would and so do you. Other than my larger point - that modern Constellations are unattractive IMO - that was all that I was saying. Why you felt the need to launch into a diatribe over something that innocuous is mystifying. Like Dan, I initially attributed your response to alcohol, but after you pronouced yourself "frighteningly sober," I have to conclude that you simply lack the interpersonal skills to have a civil conversation with a barbaric American. This response was checked for spelling and grammar so as not to offend you as a proper English speaking British citizen. Have a pleasant evening.
The thing is that many companies here do use Americanisums. ( usually companies of US origin) we just shrug and go yeah well and leave it at that.

You can tell who wrote the spell correct for many programs. I get quite annoyed at spell correct telling me that I have spelled jewellery, humour, and colour, incorrectly. Piffle!

Well stop adding unnecessary vowels to words then.

I got an email from Jaeger-LeCoultre today highlighting their super small Cal 101 movement in ladies bracelet form. Set with 1024 diamonds, 24.5 cts. That would really freak out @gbesq. JLC should be focusing on men's watches, not jewelled ladies watches.

I received an email from Omega this morning and the embedded link took me to this:
Aside from these new Constellations being hideous IMO, what’s with using the British spelling of jewelry on the USA website? Am I supposed to think that Omega is somehow more sophisticated as a result of using the British idiom? Omega, just between you and me, it’s not working. And please, for the love of God, go back to making Constellations that look like this:
I don't understand why you don't like it, this looks so much like rolex's palm frond dial and I know that is your absolute favorite!

😲😲

No not really, I have no idea as to your nationality, so I try not to make that assumption

So much theatre over a watch release! I personally like the 8800/8900 calibres and always hunting around for one that’s in my price range

Theatre is the correct spelling to use in polite society.....in fact I wasn't aware that there was another variation
I gather that the name of the main road near me: Centre Road will give you a conniption too

Here just to torment Speed2sea.......you better pop down to the chemist's shop to stock up on Xanax (whatever that is, but I assume it's a medication of one kind or another due to it inhabiting the medicine cabinet)

A splendiferous edifice is it not?
Now there some fancy $10 words for you

Do not care about the language debate. As Bill Bryson commented in Mother Tongue, English needs protection as a language in the same way as the brown rat needs to be a protected species. English is all-pervading and runs rampant in its development into all sorts of variations, Aussie, US, NZ, Indian, Jamaican etc. Enjoy it. As for the watches, I am not sure how polishing a case and bracelet and adding diamonds amounts to a "New Constellation", though according to DSIO on another thread it might well do so. I have to agree that when I got the email I was hoping for additional Globemasters or a revised Globemaster. I think that ship has sailed though. According to my sources the Globemaster is being made in very small numbers almost as a special order by Omega, particularly the Annual Calendar. I would expect it to be discontinued in the next couple of years.
