I doubt Hoodinkee will have any effect at this point, the guys that are willing to pay a premium for this were already bidding...it only takes two to reach a record price.

Maybe a couple of rich collectors have been lusting for this watch and money is no object so this will drive the price up abnormally. As what the owner said, we was expecting the watch will be sold for only $12k.

I would expect nothing less than $30k in this market...the last one sold for around $25k and it wasn't as nice if I recall.

Don't like the automatic Heuers, they aren't very accurate and are too thick and heavy.

I can attest that your former point is untrue - my Siffert is actually one of my more accurate watches, surprising especially since it's an automatic and I don't trust them... Maybe the Chronomatic Heuers you've owned / handled just needed a service?

And I find again, the 1163 isn't any thicker or heavier really than a Speedy Pro - it's actually about the same size. Though it is a bit more extroverted in design 😉
