This rare 1960’s Breitling co pilot 765 AVI has been offered to me at a good price I think.. What do you guys think?
I'm a big fan of vintage Breitling, especially the 765 Rachel Welch. As stated above I guess it depends on price. I'd love to see a clearer picture of the dial, the lume (especially near the 8 marker) looks a little lumpy--it's hard to tell if it's just darkened. Movement shots are always helpful and a picture of the inside of the case back will show the serial number, from which you can date the watch.
I think lume is original, albeit a bit degraded but it looks amazing in hand.. £7650 asking price.. My initial research has not found another for under £10k..
That's a pretty good price, for me it would depend on the lume and the movement. From what I've seen, the lume on Breitlings from the 60s tends to withdraw from the numerals and indices while Breitlings from the 70s get puffy--and that is what's hard to see in these pics The 2 in the 12 looks off as well. The attached photo is what I'm referring to.
We can't really judge the condition very well from those photos, but I'm not seeing any obvious red flags at first glance. Of course, I haven't taken a deep dive into these models since I've never really had an opportunity to buy one. They are quite desirable, as you know. If you haven't already, you might consider asking your question on breitlingsource.
More pics! There is tritium powder loss near markers, small ding in one of lugs, some scratches on movement but dial patina to die for.. I’m in love.. Good deal at £7200 or walk away??
I really like these Breitlings, easy to wear and nice looking. This looks like a nice daily wear that you wouldn't feel you had to baby. Price wise a better one will cost you north of 10 if you are lucky. And price in a service if it has been a while since refreshed.
