At least it's better than the all-to-common fake broad arrow with a completely straight across base...

Update: It looks like the most recent replica dials that were available through online sources are no more!...the batch has been exhausted it seems...so even the "high quality" replica dials (such as the one I showed that's in my 2996) are now rare....at least until a new contender arises...be on the lookout and post your findings here!
Or perhaps, Omega, Bienne will be the only "good" source for "acceptable" redials for these vintage models...similar to what we saw in a recently discussed Railmaster that was restored, including dial, by Omega Bienne....I guess we'll have to wait and see...!...?

Another thing to look for is that no original Ranchero will have the "Swiss Made" script at the bottom partially obscured by the rehaut like in PitPro's photo reposted here:

I wouldnt agree that is a tell for a fake.
The original and the replacement crystals
For the 2990 have the tension ring built into
The crystal. If the crystal is changed from the original, I think there is a strong possibility
That the silver ring will not be in the original
Position. I think this caveat also holds true
For many vintage Omegas.

is this original? i think the hour hand is too long?
Picture is terrible. The dial looks in bad shape but ok; lume was removed. Hands are wrong.

Thanks to this great thread, I am able to see that above eBay Ranchero 2996 dial is not original. Seller believes otherwise. It has some telltale indicators of a copy, Swiss Made alignment is off and it has the extra change direction from Ranchero h to e.

Totally agree with you Marc the dial is not original, The loops on the 6&9 is to close together the 3 sits slight to high as well . The font in omega is a bit ropy as well the letter e is thinner and slightly smaller that the rest of lettering ..

Yeah, I came back to this thread to post that eBay listing, but looks like it's already been addressed. The dial in the eBay listing is the older "closed 6 and 9" version of the replacement dial that was being sold for around $250 before they became unavailable.
And thanks for pointing out the position of the 3 and 6...that's also a good detail to notice. The arrow point should be centered with the middle of the 3.

Glad this post can help...

Yeah, I this one is maybe 3rd generation as the numbers are looking worse and that "Swiss" alignment is quite off.

a fake IMHO is when some one is trying to sell an item that is clearly not genuine in the gentleman's favour he clearly states the dial is redone therefore not quite the same. crown is a replacement .but from the rest of the add the movement case back and case all look genuine.

OK, true. Maybe I was a bit harsh. It's just frustrating how many "redials" there are around. And I'm guilty of this too with my redialed 2996. But like I said earlier, these dials aren't made to survive the decades like the rest of the watch and its just unfortunate that Omega did/does not have any official replacement dials available.

I believe the reason they never made replacement dial was simply they didn't sell enough Ranchero's to warrant making replacement dial .I might be wrong there hence a genuine ones are hard to come buy.

All this Ranchero drama has led me to conclude that I will never own one. The UG debates are exhausting enough! ::facepalm1::
