Just an update for you, after a lot of deliberation (far too much), it came down to what you mirrored in your post...I love the Railmaster, but the fact that I questioned if it was the right watch made me realize that I was looking for something else....hence, I am a proud owner of an Explorer 214270 Railmaster is in for servicing, and then, I do plan to reluctantly put it up for sale. Thanks for the input Karnak Cheers, Gokul
Love the silver dial! Great watches, but definitely more of a 'tool watch'...with the explorer and old Railmaster, I feel that they are a bit more refined and thus more versatile. This edition is certainly more casual.
You know what I think might look really good: the silver dial with the black dial strap. I think it will create contrast with the silver dial and add a bit of colour matching with the fauxtina on the dial. I edited this (low res) photo from an online photo posted in another forum (can't recall which one, sorry) where a forum member seemed to be considering this combo setup: As for the RM LE vs non-LE the the LE certainly looks more classy and the non-LE more tool orientated. Personally I find the lugs a bit long on the RM LE, which is very much part of the Omega design language, but I haven't had time yet to do a wrist test. As an Explorer owner I would most likely use the the RM on a leather strap. Unfortunately the non-LEs have not yet turned up here in Rio. Caught a quick glimpse of the non-LEs passing through Vancouver, I would have to check them out again side by side with LE to really make my mind up.
@gvids @Riviera Paradise - That railmaster does have more of a "tool watch" feel. But I prefer it because it's something totally different. I think it's pretty cool when every time you look down at your watch you see that vertically brushed steel dial and lollipop second hand.
True, all depends what you are looking for....for me it has always been about that mythical 'one watch' that does all. That said, I have the explorer I now, but will likely hold onto my other watches as well
I tried out my bud's 14270, but even with my 6.5" wrist, it felt small to me. As well I love the new oyster lock clasp over the old, stamped friction fit one. I will agree that the 36mm is more classic, but I feel the 39mm is a refreshing upgrade.
Although I do not agree with your overall judgement your strap looks awesome on your Railmaster. And therefore you’ve got a like.
