While looking through my Dad’s things (died 9 years ago) for some cuff links for my upcoming wedding I came across this Railmaster. After a little research I found it to be a 1955 Railmaster 2777-2 and probably bought and owned by my grandfather in Toronto in 55 or 56. I understand this is quite a rare piece. I haven’t had it cleaned or oiled yet but it is in working condition. Can’t wait to wear it to my wedding and surprise my uncles with their Dad’s watch!

Yes, rare. Second execution black dial.came after the white dial prototypes. Ordered from Canada. Will be interesting to get the excerpt from the factory. I sold my white dial to the Museum. Should be around $ 20,000 if all checks out. Congratulations ! Kind regards. Achim

Congratulations on your upcoming nuptials. Having the opportunity to wear your Grandfathers watch (& surprise your Uncles in the process) is a nice touch.

The fact that your Grandfathers watch just happens to be a ridiculously rare Omega is but the icing on the cake.

“Excerpt from the factory”? Is this something I can request?

An Extract of the Archives is the right word. Yes, you should try to get one from Omega.

What a lovely find and a lovely story!

If you decide to wear it to the wedding (which I think is a great touch), you probably shouldn’t wind it, as the dried up oils in the movement means it could be damaged by running.

The search for wedding cufflinks brought that to light......so......wind it half and wear it to your Wedding. Will be ok for one day. After that, do yourself a favour and get rid of that hillarious Band ......And, yes, after handling Vintage Omegas for the last 30 Years including research with guys from the Omega Museum, I'm excited ! Have not handled one with the Swan neck regulation.... Kind regards. Achim

Thanks! That’s good advice. I went to a very reputable shop today and inquired about a service. The look on the guy’s face when I showed him what it was made me think “let’s not mess with this till I know more”. I’m from the vintage guitar world and I’d give that advice if someone came in with a ‘54 Stat.

Yes, awful band!
I had looked at today to see about service. The repair guy said a mark inside indicated it was serviced in ‘96. I had nothing done
