he was known for the best Bond movies
He was also known for smacking women around and justifying it well into his 60s or 70s, so, F' him, IMHO.

Yeah, we all know this. But in case you didn’t get the memo, when someone dies and you eulogize them, it’s a chance to focus on their positive qualities, and all the joy and whatever contributions they brought to the world. Pointing out flaws during this initial time, albeit accurate, is in bad form.

In Bond's honor I watched Dr. No last night. Bond was wearing this, and I couldn't see what it was but it looks...Bondian. Any ideas?

Yes, I believe no crown guard model. Can’t remember if it’s the big crown, or regular crown model.

At times, however, his life was quite challenging: here he is blowing off steam after a tough shoot with co-star Claudine Auger between takes during Thunderball:

Not that it matters much, but that's Martine Beswick (who played Paula), not Claudine Auger. Claudine sadly passed away last December as well. There are many great photos of them together on set. My favorite Bond movie.

RIP Mr. Bond, James Bond.

Come on guys, let’s be real, died at ninety, in his sleep, had a great life, women, cars, watches, money, family, happiness and his movies will be around for ever, hell I’ll be happy if I make it to 50!

He must have been a great actor: I didn't realize until a year ago that the rebreather he used in Thunderball (1965) was fake.

And Scottish nationalist! funded the Scottish National Party. While they haven't yet achieved independence for Scotland, they did manage to get Scotland's own parliament back and considerable say over local matters.

Thanks for pointing this out, I watched Dr No many times but never noticed the watch. 😉

I am not normally affected by the lives of movie stars, but his death made me sad. I am a pretty big Bond fan and although Connery's acting wasn't stellar (he played the Spaniard with a Scottish accent), I was a fan.

I'm going to take some time over Thanksgiving to drink a few too many martinis and I'll sit down with my 18 year old son (also a Bond fan) and watch The Man Who Would Be King. I haven't watched that in 20 years and I think my son will like it.

RIP, Sir. You had a good run.

I don’t agree. If you embody a character in a number of BOND movies that is universally applauded, appreciated, and respected by both critics and fans alike, then your acting is stellar.

Edited for clarification for @Archer.
