I like the idea of the convenience of quick release spring bars, but are they decent quality, or is it safer to get the strap without and use my oem Omega spring bars?

Im specifically looking at this strap:

On a side note. Single pass through are my favorite type of strap. I love how they charge 10$ more for a simpler strap with less material then a NATO lol.

Good point. My problem with Natos, especially leather ones, is they make my watch sit much higher on my wrist. I have pretty small wrists at 6 inches, and my Globemaster is 12.5mm thick, which is fine with 2 piece straps as I like to wear it snug against my wrist. Adding a few more mm to the thickness is a bit much for me I’ve found. However, on a thinner watch or a thicker wrist it would be fine, but I get your point.

Most places do, because the NATOs are off the rack and the single pass is a customization. Some go even further; Jean Rousseau charges the full customized price even for the same strap but without the flap

You are correct that it requires less material. However, the $10 premium is due to shell cordovan which costs significantly more than regular cowhide.

My default single-pass straps are all made from shell cordovan. Since its only a single layer of leather, I intentionally picked shell cordovan for its firm/dense profile.

With that being said, there is no price premium if one prefers a single-pass strap made from cowhide.

I hope this somewhat helps to explain the difference in prices. Please let me know if anyone has more questions!

I've never seen a situation where the watch falls out due to the quick-release springbars malfunctioning. However, you should use the OEM springbars if that makes you feel more comfortable.

good to know! I must have missed the fact they are different leathers. Makes total sense! I wish more people understood how great single pass straps are.

They are great quality. I have a dozen or so straps from them. High quality leather and good hardware

Me too and I have had no problems using it on my vintage Omega. I'm using the quick release straps from Oris.

This has never happened to me personally, but I recall reading a thread where where the OP mentioned that the tab to release the bar had somehow become inaccessible, which made it impossible to remove the spring bar, since it did not have a "shoulder" for a spring-bar tool. I think this is pretty uncommon, and obviously one could always snip the spring-bar if necessary.

Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I like to use standard straps where I can decide exactly what spring-bars to use.
