Question regarding my SMP300

Hi, newbie here.

I recently acquired my first modern Omega, a 2004 SMP300 with a beautiful faded bezel.

The watch warranty card states the watch was sold in 2004, and so did the seller. However, the serial code 80xxxxxx dates to 2006. Is this a red flag or common with Seamaster models?

Pictured is the watch itself.

Hi, according to whom does the serial number date to 2006? Most tables on the internet are notoriously unreliable as they try to be exact, whereas most movements are made in batches and then installed in watches at whenever date the rest of the assembly is ready to be completed.

Do the serial numbers on the case, movement, and warranty card match? If so, you're probably fine but you could always reach out to Swatch Group Customer Service in your territory and request a reference check for your serial number.

And from production to the real time when the watch actual was sold can take a while..Don't worry all looks OK.

Haven't checked the movement, my watchmaker did. However, the case serial matches to the one on the warranty card.

I have the midsize version of your watch, purchased in 2005. It's got an 80xxxxx serial number too. From my research, production of that midsize version ended in 2003. However, the online serial number decoder says it dates to 2006. I know my watch is the real deal as it's been back to Omega for service. So don't worry, I think you should be good.

Online serial decoders are are next to useless as they don't drill down into the different patterns different model series follow. The only one worth a damn is Eugene's ILMS* and that is only good for Speedies up to 1997 or so. 80XXXXXX on an SMP covers several years in any case, about 4 if my records are correct so you'd need to give the next 2 sig figures to get even a best guess.
