Good grief, I think I'll give them a ring about mine. I know it had a bracelet and papers, but isn't that crazy money for an Ed White?

But it doesn't look like bursting anytime soon. The prices of pre-moon watches has rocketed over the past few years and decent examples are getting harder to find.

Yes, sorry meant across the range, the early 70s stuff is rising steeply as is the market for desirable Seamasters.

Dare we use the word investment?

Final hammer price £12,800 + 22% Commision & vat ( £2,800 & change )
Just about where I put it (£200 less) but there shouldn't be VAT unless it's overseas (although I vaguely recall having a discussion with someone else about this).

VAT will be applied to the 22% commission.

I don't know why everyone thinks that there will be a bubble, I used to think that about Paul Newman Daytona's and DRSD's and the only bubble there was the GFC. Look at where they are now.

What has affected the Vintage Omega pricing is the stratospheric vintage Rolex pricing and it is not going to burst anytime soon. If anything Omega is playing catch up.

Cheers

@Barking mad probably hit the nail on the head there. Omega, since this is an Ed White I'll refer to the Speedmaster, have been under-valued for a while. They are just re-aligning themselves to what is probably a fair market value.

The price charts on Speedmaster101 have been updated for July 2017. Decent Ed White's are $15k to $21k and more if boxes, papers, bracelet etc included. The stated price assumes a don insert is on the watch.

I have to disagree a little there, not on the prices but how you're applying them. The $21,000 is for a collector grade piece. Think "museum" and not "decent".

Fair enough, I was making the point about the range of prices, bad choice of word.

And Prices will Continue to rise...

I'm glad I bought mine for an amount that ensures that still one of my kids can go through college.
