Quartz has a time and a place. If I'm under the hood of the car or bashing about in the woods or out in the canoe, it quartz time.
My wife is notoriously hard on watches (forgetful kindergarten teacher) and quartz watches (Longines currently) suit her fine, no winding and no broken heart if it ends up in the wash (don't laugh, it took two trips through the washer and dryer to kill her damn Timex quartz)
BUT.... for me? going out, regular wear, at the desk at work, whatever...... vintage mechanical, there's simply no other way, its what I want.
So each has its uses, what do you want it for?
Actually, it sounds like you really don't want it, you want its mechanical twin.
So, simple, problem solved, start searching.
And please gentlemen..... mail all your quartz watches to the above squirrel, he loves to bury things in the forest.
But, for the sake of the environment, please remove the batteries.
