A full set vintage Racing Speedy is about as close to grail territory any watch can get. Amazing piece and surprised to see it getting sold at this (starting?) price.

Yup, that's my ultimate exit piece. Maybe one day (sigh)
Congrats to the buyer, hope he/she is here and will show it off when it arrives.

I'm really (really!) hoping someone here got this. Yes, to keep it in the OF family...but selfishly because I want to see more photos!

The two jewelers I know were Hendersons and Anthony Karpe.
Might have been others I don’t remember.

If I read it correctly, it's R.A. Roxburgh, Hamilton

Gorgeous Watch. It would, no doubt, be a center-piece for many collections.

Phenomenal watch! Shame about the condition! I guess the new owner will no doubt give it a good clean.

I viewed this watch - Bonhams have a record of bringing private watches direct to market.

This watch was typical of this. One family owner, with original documents.

The condition was lovely. No shame - it proves provenance.

Dare i say I think it was cheap. I have seen them sell for double this.

I cannot decide which version is more valuable. This one, the Professional version with painted logo, has a unique dial plate with smaller subdials and subdial hands.

However, I think the Non-Pro might be more valuable.

Curious to know why, could you elaborate?

While I like the Pro for its rare dial plate, some older, even older than me, reckon the old style non pro dial is more desirable as it follows the early dial style print layout

Somlo have one without box and papers at £70k so £51k including buyers premium seems like a fair price.

No ill will intended here, the subject lot doesn't come with the 145.012 case back which is only disclosed when inquiring about. Unfortunately the condition report does not specify this anomaly either.

Personally I would try to bid on it given the impeccable provenance, but what put me off IMHO is the incorrect white chrono hand. I believe the Red Racing Speedmaster should be fit with the same type of chrono hand (painted in white) as with that of the Ultraman, of which the serial number of this watch is in the range.

My logic with these is that non-pro is better, because it's cleaner design. But, they are both fantastic! Do they beat Alaska III though... 😁
