Hello, fellow Omega enthusiasts!

I just bought a Seamaster without the text on the dial (1958, Caliber Ω 470). I understand that these are getting pretty rare? I know it could be a redail.

I purchased this one $750, but don't have it in hand yet. There's lot of pics of it. I'll post several here to make it easy.

I would appreciate any opinions, or thoughts if this was a good purchase decision. Much appreciated.
I do feel very good about it. I hope I made a good decision, as I'm still very much learning. Thank you in advance!

These are not the best photos for assessing, unfortunately. Overexposed and not enough resolution. And the eBay link did not work for me.

It's interesting the ad does not mention the dial. I think that may be for a reason. Some of the minute marks look off, although that could be due to the curve in the crystal and the angles of the photos. The SWISS MADE text looks a bit uneven, too. It could be from scratches on the crystal, but again the photos are not good enough.

The lugs look a bit polished. Were there photos of the caseback? And it looks like there is a gap between the dial and tension ring at the top/ left. Were there photos of the movement that you can post?

A few red flags for this watch/seller..

First, the “pre-Seamaster” naming is entirely inaccurate. The Seamaster came out 10 years before this watch. This model was sometimes marked Seamaster and other times not (not sure why).

Second, the case is not 34.5mm, closer to 33mm. And it’s been polished.

Third, I suspect the bracelet is a knock off. Best case it’s a modern Omega replacement but surely not original to the watch.

My gut tells me the dial is original, although the build up of paint around the markers is a bit suspicious.

Thanks for the astute observations. Yes, I think the bracelet is not an authentic Omega bracelet, but a cheaper repro.
About the dial, he does mention it in the details, but claims it's original: "Original matte black dial with applied silver baton markers, in excellent condition." He does provide pics of the caseback, isuerted below. Assuming the it's a redial, and with the counterfeit bracelet, what is a fair value for this watch? I paid $750. I think I should ask for a bigger discount or return it. I'm going to check if it has radium once I get it.

Would like to see a pic of the movement. All black dial vintage Omegas will be intensely scrutinized because they are rare. I look forward to some better pics once it has arrived. $750 for a cool watch that you enjoy. Not bad.

Do you have the movement picture and outside of the caseback?

I believe that it should be in 1960’s with the movement number 16 million?

The one I found had the “seamaster”, plus the difference shape of hands.

Yes, that is what I figured, it's still a nice watch for the price. According to the seller, it has been regularly serviced (but I know many usually say that and can't assume its true). "If refinished, was done long ago. I bought in Glasgow, Scotland about 2005-6. Serviced regularly so doing well ." There is a pic of the movement. I'll post now. I'll take more pics when I get it in this week.
