Picked up an Aero Compax this weekend that I thought I would show off. A dealer bought it at an estate and called me, less than 2 hours later I had it. I have all the questions about these that exist. I have regretted the sale of my Speedmaster several years ago and now I feel whole again but I'm just at the entrance to the forest. Is there a primer on UG? So many names, such subtle differences (to me right now) that I can't figure what is what. So here is what I got, a 1964 Aero Compax 22704/3 Type B
i'm very very envious as I'm a big fan of these. Those blued hands are fantastic and the dial is very clean. This thread might be of interest. https://omegaforums.net/threads/late-aero-compax-typology.12251/ Your crown looks to be different from the others I've seen although I could not definitively say that it's wrong.
Thanks for the comments, I'm pretty excited about finding and getting this. I wondered about the crown myself when I started looking at the pics around, not too many. Since I have no history on this watch, maintenance or otherwise I don't know what may have been done to it. As you can see I haven't even done any clean up yet. I don't think much has been done to the watch. This is one of several watches that the original owner had, all the rest were from the same timeframe give or take but this was the only significant watch. It had a poor aftermarket bracelet on it. The dealer I bought it from is going to have further contact with the people and he has assured me that he will inquire about any boxes or papers that might be tucked away and forgotten, that would be nice. Here are some pics of the crown from different angles:
This example on Chrono24 looks to have the same crown (albeit it has no lume on the dial or in the hands) so I'm sure yours is fine. The last thing I would want to do is to cast aspersions about your watch. I only wish I knew a dealer who who would contact me with great finds like that.
Don't worry, I didn't feel like you were doing that. I'm sure there could be slight variations like there are with dials, etc. It's nice to see that example. I'm lucky with that dealer as he isn't a watch person but a good opportunist and likes to get his money back asap, so he called me within the hour of getting it. Then I had to wait while he went home to clean up, feed the dogs and go to lunch, etc. It was a long 3 hour wait knowing that if he mentioned and showed it to anyone along the way it could have turned into a war. OK, one little learning question: Compur vs Compax Thanks again
Compurs predate Uni-compax and were two register, Compax are more recent than the Compur and Uni-compax, with three registers ! I believe all Aero-Compax have three functional register. Some had momento ref register.
I'm not an expert but your watch doesn't look like an aero compax. It's missing the 4th sub-dial for a 2nd time zone setting..
Master of Speed, on that other thread you answered "no" to the question of flyback, Now I see that I'd forgotten what that means and I see that these aren't I was thinking of talking to Vanessa about a servicing, is there someone who specializes in the Compax' that is recommended?
can't tell about the one of rolokr, but usually, it doesn't. There is a seldom GMT version that does.
The momento register adjusts with the left side crown, only with spring tension, is NOT involved with the mechanical running movement.
Over the years UG AEROCOMPAX changed, started with square pushers, then evolved to round pushers. 1960S Looks more like a compax with three register chronograph.

This case postdates the classic AeroCompax models and no longer has a Martel movement, much less a memento dial. The model name was just a superficial tip of the hat to the historical model by this time.
