That's a lovely Polerouter. Looks like it's got the correct crown too (which mine sadly no longer has)

    Hello all,

Glad to see that there is Universal Geneve dedicated topic :) I really like those watches and I don't understand how come they are not that much appreciated. I just bought 2 of them,
    Here is one of them,

    A compur of 1939

It seems to me that when you look at the quality of the watches, the prestige of the brand and the price you pay , it's pretty "cheap", that means, according to me, that the UG are not as wanted as other similar brands. Am I wrong ?

    Define "cheap".
    But imho, yes, you are.

    Yes. :)
UGs are very much collected, appreciated, and valued. In terms of price, I guess it's all relative, depends on what you are comparing too....

There are some real UG aficionados on this forum, that’s for sure. Some amazing watches and tremendous expertise. I don’t know a better place to ask questions.

really happy to find this place !
by cheap I mean that you can easily find watches between 1500 and 4000€. Comparing to Rolex or JLC for example, it's very cheap.

But if you say I'm wrong, I am ! :) I don't know much about watches, just that I like this a lot !

To the afficionados and UG experts here, if you can tell me more about my watch I would be grateful :)
    It's a 1939 UG Compur with a 285 caliber. Love this watch.

Can you post a pic showing case reference and serial? (Either interior or exterior caseback).

that's the picture of the back, you need the inside as well right ?

    It's simply written "10 juillet 1939"

yes, but only if you can safely remove the caseback without causing any damage. If you are not sure, don't risk it.

Well I prefer not to open it myself. I will ask a pro and send you the picture.

    I don't know if it's a personal engraving, I guess so

yes, personal engraving. The watch is not necessarily from 1939 if you are basing it on the inscription, it could be earlier. the serial will tell. This may also be pre 5 digit coding, again the caseback will tell.

I don't see this case or exact dial in Sala, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

The crown looks like a replacement, as is the left sub seconds hand.

nice, I like both of them. (This second one looks like it has an incorrect chrono sweep, not the end of the world).
