Recently inherited my father鈥檚 vintage Longines dress watch. It so special that I have something that reminds me of him every time I wear it now. It鈥檚 so cool too that you can request the archival information from Longines!

Great heirloom, and a very nice watch. The caliber 30L is a neat movement that has an exceptionally large balance wheel. And your example is in very good condition: clean dial, sharp facets on the case, signed crown.

Thank you! I鈥檓 working offshore right now and have been wearing exclusively for about 2 weeks- really a versatile, solid watch that I don鈥檛 feel like I have to be too precious with, unlike my vintage Longines.

Longines Ref. 7823-15 with cal. 847.3. According to Longines, this one was invoiced to the company "Chronostyle", who were their agent in Romania at that time. I checked, and the company still exists and is still a Longines partner.

So, this one has been once around the world, manufactured in Switzerland, sold in Romania, and somehow ended up in Japan, where I bought it. Now it is in Germany, where I had it serviced, and it is now running really well (as in, modern-day COSC spec - these Longines calibers were really amazing quality).

Apparently, the ref. 7823 was made in a lot of different versions, with colourful dials, roman numerals ect. - so I'm including a page from a Japanese catalogue showing two other versions (on the bottom right). One could start building a collection with just this model...
